Ubud is regarded as a spiritual and creative centre, situated in the heart of Bali. Its high elevation gives clear air, relatively cool temperatures and plenty of lush landscapes to be enjoyed. The town itself has boutiques selling local crafts, home apparel and clothes, several great restaurants and luxury hotels. Spend your days strolling through the various art galleries and art stores.
Adventurers are going to find a lot for them in Ubud. There's the Ancient Monkey Forest, home to pretty walkways and temples, as well as lots of friendly monkeys. Rent a bike and discover the luscious surrounding landscapes, including the popular emerald rice paddies on the Tegalalang Rice Terrace. Or visit the Ubud Market to pick up souvenirs and watch locals haggle for merchandise.
Seminyak is well recognised as one of the finest beach resorts in Bali. It is situated on the south west coast of the island and is home to excellent hotels that deliver everything you need for a stylish beach break. It's a relaxed place, with stunning golden sands to enjoy, as well as a host of fantastic restaurants.
Petitenget Temple, or Pura Petitenget Temple, is suitable for culture lovers. This sea temple was designed to protect the spirits of the forest and features a dragon staircase. It's also quiet, with its wonderful gardens and views of the beautiful Balinese coastline. Wait after closing time to catch one of the best sunset views of the island.
