Prepare to be wowed by the ancient city of Canakkale, which is home to many amazing sites and incredible vistas.  Canakkale is a beautiful city located on Biga Peninsula, where you can find magnificent landscapes, and lovely villages. It is easy to lose yourself by wandering through the charming ancient ruins or spending your days eating and drinking on its atmospheric cobbled lanes. If you want to relax, then visit its waterfront promenade Kordon or any of its 12 beaches that have been awarded with the blue flag status. It is also worth visiting Dardanelles Straits Naval Command Museum, which contains exhibits on the Gallipoli battles and some war relics.  Culture vultures should also pay a visit to Çimenlik Kalesi, which is a compact castle that was built by order of Mehmet the Conqueror in 1452. It is now a small military museum containing relics from the Gallipoli battles.  Wolfgang Petersen's 2004 movie Troy had a big impact on the Çanakkale region, including boosting visitor numbers to the archaeological sites and endowing the northern stretch of the waterfront promenade with a wooden Trojan Horse, which was used in the film shoot.

If you love adventure, then be sure to hop on a boat and discover many nearby islands including Gokceada, which is the world's first and only slow island. If you do visit, then be sure to also see the stunning Marmaros Waterfall.
