Explore Tokyo and Kyoto

Tokyo is a thrilling metropolis humming to the latest in techno wizardry, and gadgets to be had at low prices. Omotesando has broad leafy avenues and trendy shops whilst Ueno has narrow market alleys full of sights and sounds. The artistic Akihabara district is a neverending source of fascination whilst the Imperial Palace and Asakusa’s Old Tokyo are a step back in time. For the young, Shibuya is a treasure trove of fashion and toys, whilst Shinjuku and Roppongi cater for evening fun.

Kyoto is the centre for Japan’s heritage, with 2000 temples and shrines, Kyoto is a living slice of Japan’s history. The illustrious Golden Pavilion gleams impressively whilst Ryoanji Temple is a favourite stop-off for unique ‘zen’ rock gardens. In Arashiyama, mountain sides of trees turn gold, yellow, red and brown in the autumn, a vista best captured from the river cruise. Not to be missed are the teahouses in the Geisha district of Gion.
