Day 1 - Arrival
Buckle up for an amazing experience to enjoy the magic of India as you arrive on your Jet Airways flight to Delhi. During this trip you will learn for yourself how Delhi has been a magnet that has drawn in the Mongols, Turks, Persians, Afghans, Mughals and the British - all of whom contributed to its glorious but turbulent past. Even now, the twin cities of Old and New Delhi still intrigue Indians and tourists alike as the cultural and political capital of the largest democracy in the world.
But today, you will be met by our friendly representative, who will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel for an overnight stay. You will then have the evening free to spend at leisure. You can choose to sleep off any jet lag or explore the city’s nightlife independently.
Day 2 – Delhi
Feast on a hearty breakfast before a busy day sightseeing. Today you will tour the cities of New and Old Delhi. Get your camera ready to snap the 17th century Jama Masjid as well as all the interesting sights and sounds on offer as you walk through the narrow, and winding lanes of the market - Chandni Chowk. You will even have the option of taking a rickshaw ride through these bazaars. Today you will also visit the Mughal Empire’s most opulent fort, the Red Fort for a photo stop. The final stop of the morning will be a visit to Raj Ghat where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated. In the afternoon, you will head to New Delhi and drive past The Presidential Palace, the one-time imperial residence of the British viceroys, the India Gate, a memorial raised in honor of the Indian soldiers martyred during the Afghan war and a drive along the Rajpath past the Parliament House and secretarial buildings. There will also be a chance to visit Qutab Minar, the 12th century tower of victory built by a slave king and prototype of all minars towers in India. The last stop of the day will be a visit to the 16th century Humayun’s tomb, a precursor to the Taj Mahal, before returning back to the hotel to unwind.
Day 3 – Agra
You will start the day with a train ride from Delhi to Agra. Learn how Agra started life as a small village on the banks of the Yamuna, but was transformed by two great Mughal monarchs, Akbar and his grandson Shah Jehan.
Once you arrive, you will be transferred to your hotel, where you will have a chance to check-in and freshen up before visiting Agra Fort. This stunning landmark is a UNESCO world heritage site. Discover how Agra Fort was originally started by Emperor Akbar in 1565, but his son, Jahangir, and grandson, Shah Jahan, later made valuable additions to it. Later, enjoy a visit to Mehtab Bagh for splendid views of the Taj Mahal in the lap of serene landscaped surroundings. It is a great place to get unique shots of the ever majestic Taj Mahal. In fact this garden itself offers many beautiful photo opportunities and is a great place to pull out your selfie stick and take a holiday photo. Mehtab Bagh was built as an integral part of the Taj complex as the gardens of the Taj are perfectly aligned with Mehtab Bagh, making it the best place to view the Taj from. Finally head back to your hotel and relax.
Day 4 – Agra & Jaipur
This morning will be one that will be etched in your mind forever. Today you will leave the hotel to watch the pearly light of dawn paint delicate hues on the Taj Mahal. This stunning landmark, which is considered one of the seven wonders of the world, was built by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan to enshrine the mortal remains of his beloved Queen Mumtaz Mahal. See for yourself how Taj Mahal manifests the wealth and luxury of Mughal art as seen in architecture and garden design, painting, and calligraphy. You will return back to the hotel for breakfast, before heading out to Jaipur, but enroute you will visit the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri. This was the capital of the Mughal empire between 1571 and 1585 during the reign of Akbar. After the visit, you will continue your drive to Jaipur which is the capital of Rajasthan province and is known for its arts and crafts, jewellery, hand-painted fabrics and stone sculptures. After check-in at your hotel, you can spend the rest of the evening at leisure.
Day 5 - Jaipur
After an early breakfast you will visit the hilltop Amber Fort. You will arrive in style as you will ascend the imposing fort on a decorated painted elephant.
This elaborate building, now little more than a façade, is encrusted with delicate screens and carved balconies from which the royal ladies, confined to their quarters, could sneak views of the outside world. After exploring this landmark, make sure you pause to view the elegant Hawa Mahal or Palace of Winds. You will then continue to Jantar Mantar, an observatory built by Sawai Jai Singh ll in the 18th century. The Maharajah, a scientist as well as an astronomer, had the principles of Euclid translated into Sanskrit. The next stop will be City Palace which is built within the fortified area of the original city, with one of the finest monumental entrances in India. The Palace is now principally a museum housing a collection of great treasures, including miniature paintings, carpets, royal garments and other interesting objects from Jaipur's intriguing past. The former royal family retains a part of the palace for their personal use.
Day 6 – Jaipur & Pune
Feast on a leisurely breakfast, after which you are free to do as you wish. Now would be a great time to head to nearby markets to buy some souvenirs. In the afternoon you will be assisted and transferred to the airport for a flight to Pune. Once you arrive, you will be transferred to you hotel to check-in. Then finally put your feet up and unwind after a busy day of travel.
Day 7 – Pune
This morning you will enjoy a leisurely breakfast. In the afternoon you will be transferred to Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium Pune to watch your favorite India vs England one day match. After the match you will be transferred to hotel to spend the evening as you wish.
Day 8 – Departure
Relish in the final breakfast of your holiday. Your mind will be buzzing from all the adventures you have experienced, from seeing the Taj Mahal at dawn to riding on an elephant’s back. You will then be transferred to Pune airport for your flight home.
