Wake up to glorious sunshine and an equally glorious breakfast. Take time to enjoy a moment of peace before a full day tour of Old and New Delhi. Our friendly tour guide will meet you at the hotel lobby and take you on a drive through the colonial heritage of Lutyen’s Delhi and on to a closer look at the Qutab Minar and Humayun’s Tomb. During the tour learn why Delhi was a magnet that drew the Mongols, Turks, Persians, Afghans, Mughals and the British, all of whom contributed to its glorious but turbulent past. Today you will also have chance to experience life as a local by taking a ride on a cycle rickshaw. Then there will also be an option to watch the biggest Bollywood musical ever at Kingdom of Dreams.
Day 3 - Delhi to Agra
Feast a delicious breakfast before you are driven on a 4 hour journey to Agra. You will drive past India’s only international standard Grand Prix track ‘Gautam Buddh circuit’ and then vast expanses of agricultural fields dotting the sky. Comfort stops will be made en-route. Then prepare to be wowed again as you check into The Oberoi Amarvilas which enjoys an unrivalled position, just 600 metres from the iconic Taj Mahal. Each of its rooms affords uninterrupted views of this ancient monument to love, while the hotel's design and décor pay homage to its Mughal splendour. In the afternoon, embrace yourself with the mesmeric city of Agra that has many historical delights to explore – starting off at Agra Fort. As you wander through this landmark learn how it was originally started by Emperor Akbar in 1565, but his son, Jahangir, and grandson, Shah Jahan, later made valuable additions to it. You will then enjoy a guided Kacchhpura Walk – which brings you some amazing behind the scenes of life and times throbbing in the shadows of the Taj Mahal. Best part being that the trail is a community based enterprise where youths from the local community will show you round. The cost of this walk goes directly to funding various welfare projects such as upgrading schools, building toilets in the area and creating sustainable livelihoods. Finally, return back to your stunning hotel to relax.
Day 4 - Agra to Jaipur
Today will be a morning that will be etched in your mind forever. Wake up before the crack of dawn to visit one of the seven wonders of the world – the Taj Mahal. Watch the pearly light of dawn paint delicate hues on the Taj as you discover the heart warming love story about how it was built by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan to enshrine the mortal remains of his beloved Queen Mumtaz Mahal. Taj Mahal manifests the wealth and luxury of Mughal art as seen in its architecture and garden design, painting, and calligraphy. Load up your camera with stunning photos of this amazing landmark – as your mind fills up with stunning memories to last a lifetime. On the way back, there will be a quick stop to view the elegant Hawa Mahal or Palace of Winds. This elaborate building, now little more than a façade, is encrusted with delicate screens and carved balconies from which the royal ladies, confined to their quarters, could sneak views of the outside world. Then you will continue to Jantar Mantar, an observatory, built by Sawai Jai Singh ll in the 18th century. The Maharajah, a scientist as well as an astronomer, had the principles of Euclid translated into Sanskrit. Finally head to The City Palace which is built within the fortified area of the original city, with one of the finest monumental entrances in India.
