Milford Track Self-Guided Walk

Milford Track one of the world’s most spectacular treks starts at the head of Lake Te Anau winds its way through the Fiordland National Park and the World Heritage area to the majestic Milford Sound on New Zealand’s picturesque South Island. Described as one of the world’s finest walks spend 4 days / 3 nights exploring this magnificent walk with accommodation at the Department of Conservation Huts in Bunk Rooms.


Experience the grandeur of the 53.5 km Milford Track nestled in the heart of the spectacular Fiordland National Park. You'll be awed by natural wonders while walking in a spectacular, wild and beautiful part of New Zealand. There are sheer ice-carved valleys from a mountain pass, refreshing mountain rivers, peaceful forests and dramatic cheer cliff faces with cascading waterfalls. Immersed in nature, you'll be surrounded by native birdlife - Kea, Weka, Bellbird, Robin and maybe even Kiwi if you're lucky. The Milford Track is described as one of the finest walks in the world ! After coach transfers from Queenstown to Te Anau downs you begin your journey by crossing lake Te Anau by boat to Glade House Wharf. This is the beginning of your Milford Track adventure. Your first day walking is a short one from the Wharf to Clinton hut, followed by day two with a walk on a gradual gradient to Mintaro hut. Day three is the big one, walking up and over the Mackinnon Pass to Dumpling Hut, providing spectacular views of Fiordland. The final day the track descends to Sandfly Point where you will board a boat to take you across to Milford Sound to meet your final coach transfer back to Queenstown for a well deserved hot shower. The Milford Track will be a journey of a lifetime and one that you'll never forget.

What is not included

Meals - Not included. Walkers must carry and prepare their own meals.
Equipment - An equipment set is available for hire for the duration of the track and a bond will be taken from the clients at their pre-trip briefing in the event of loss or theft. Inclusions: Backpack, Sleeping Bag, Tramping Boots, Rain Jacket, Over Trousers, Cook Set.
