Day 1 – Nairobi & Rift Valley: Buckle up for the time of your life as soon as you fly into Nairobi. You will be welcomed by our friendly representative who will greet you before travelling west through Kenya's fertile highlands. Look out your window and see rolling tea and coffee estates abound. Then suddenly to your left, the trees will part to reveal a spectacular view of the Great Rift Valley, with the dormant Longonot volcano taking centre stage. Your panoramic journey will then take you to Lake Elementaita Serena Camp, where you will arrive around mid-day. Once you have checked in, you will enjoy lunch before setting off on your first game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. Be sure to have your camera ready as you delve deep inside the animal kingdom. Flanked by rocky escarpments, pockets of acacia forest and at least one waterfall, the park is gorgeous year-round and is home to both black and white rhinos, lions, leopards, hippos and endangered Rothschild giraffes. The southern end of the lake is the best place to see wildlife. The forested area below Flamingo Hill is a favorite lion-spotting point – lionesses love to sleep in the trees – while leopards frequent the same area. After an eventful day, you will return to the camp for dinner before retiring to your luxury tent to enjoy a well-earned rest.
Day 2 - Lake Elementaita to Masai Mara Game Reserve: After an early morning breakfast, you will embark on an escorted Bird Walk drive to Narok Town via Mai-Mahiu . You will enjoy a brief rest stop before travelling onto the Masai Mara Game Reserve in time for lunch. After your feast at the lodge, you will experience an afternoon game drive. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled as you venture into the animal kingdom once again to spot the famous big five, which includes the lion, leopard, African elephant, African buffalo, and black rhinoceros. That’s not all, you are also bound to spot Nile crocodiles, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, and bat-eared foxes. Finally, as the sun sets, you will return to Mara Serena Lodge for dinner and a well-earned rest.
Day 3 - Masai Mara Game Reserve: Today will be spent exploring the vast plains of the Masai Mara, starting early with a game drive before breakfast, and returning to the lodge for meals. To treat yourself, you can book the ‘Mara Serena Hippo Pool Breakfast’ experience. Watch hippos splash about by the Hippo Pools as you enjoy a set breakfast buffet of cold cuts, fruits, cereals and hot dishes. This reserve is an extension of the Serengeti ecosystem to the south. Game abounds here, particularly when the migration is on, and millions of wildebeests and zebras make their way back and forth across the Mara River on their annual trek. The Mara is also famous for its abundance of lions - particularly the superb black manned males. You'll see lots of elephants here often in large herds, as well as, if you're lucky, leopard, cheetah and rhino. All the Big Five are also residents, so make sure your camera is ready to snap photos of these magnificent beasts’ as you see them. You will adore your time on game drives as the huge expanse of grassland covers 320 sq km and is dotted with distinctive flat-topped acacia trees that are watered by two rivers, Mara River and Talek River. You are also bound to see nomadic Maasai people, who can be seen grazing their cattle, usually brightly dressed in red chequered capes. After a fascinating day, you will return to Mara Serena Lodge for dinner and rest.
