Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival - Kuala Lumpur
On arrival at Kuala Lumpur, you will be met and transferred to the Dorsett Regency Hotel or similar for one night. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 2: Kuala Lumpur – Cameron Highlands (travelling distance 214km; road journey approx. 5 hours)
Depart Kuala Lumpur in the morning and travel north to the hill resort of the Cameron Highlands. En route, you will have the opportunity to visit the Orang Asli (Malaysia aboriginals) settlements and witness their hunting skill using blowpipes. After lunch, visit vegetable and fruit farms and visit the apiary where bees are kept and pure honey sold. The evening is free at leisure. Overnight at the Strawberry Park Resort or similar. (B,L)
Day 3: Cameron Highlands - Penang (travelling distance 285lm; road journey approx. 5 hours)
Visit a tea plantation before going to Ipoh, the city of tin mines. After lunch, stop at the Sam Poh Tong Cave Temple, an impressive work of art and faith, with various statues of Buddha among natural stalactites and stalagmites. Continue journey to Kuala Kangsar, the royal town of Perak. View the majestic Ubudiah Mosque, which was built in 1917 and remains the most beautiful mosque in the country. Admire the old and new Royal Palace before continuing to Penang via the Penang Bridge, the longest in Asia. The evening is free at leisure. Stay two nights at the Bayview Beach Resort or similar. Day 4: Penang
Explore the streets of Georgetown and its rich heritage. Admire the intricate carvings, woodwork and porcelain décor of Khoo Kongsi and the adjacent Yap Kongsi. After that take a leisurely trishaw ride through Chinatown to visit Peranakan Museum which houses some priceless antique collections of the Straits Settlement era. Last stop is Wat Chayamakaralam, which houses one of the world’s largest reclining buddhas, and the colourful Burmese Temple next door. Afternoon and evening is free at leisure or enjoy an optional tour. (B)
Day 5: Penang - Kota Bahru (travelling distance 386km; road journey approx. 5 hours)
Travel by road to the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. This journey to Kota Bahru transverses changing terrains & lifestyles. The state of Kelantan, translated as “Land of Lightning”, is a veritable treasure trove of delights, rustic fishing villages, verdant padi fields & palm fringed beaches. It is also the most traditional state in Malaysia in respect of Malay culture & handicrafts. Upon arrival, the evening is free at leisure. Overnight at the Renaissance Hotel or similar. (B,L)
Day 6: Kota Bahru – Kenyir Lake (travelling distance 168km; road journey approx. 2.5 hours)
Depart in the morning to Kenyir, located in the district of Hulu Terengganu. It is believed that the rain forest is the world oldest tropical rainforest. The forest also serves as a part of Malaysia National Park. Overnight at the Kenyir Lake Resort or similar. (B,L)
Day 7: Kenyir Lake - Kuantan (travelling distance 209km; road journey approx. 3 hours)
Continue to Kuantan, passing the picturesque fishing village of Kemaman and the colourful village of Cherating. Upon arrival, the rest of the day is free at leisure or optional tours. Overnight at the Swiss Garden Hotel or similar. (B,L)
Day 8: Kuantan – Kuala Lumpur (travelling distance 259km; road journey approx. 4 hours)
After lunch, transfer back to Kuala Lumpur. Free at leisure. Overnight at the Piccolo Hotel or similar. (B)
Day 9: Kuala Lumpur – Departure
Free at leisure until the transfer to the airport for your departure flight. (B)
