Hoi An

Hoi An river
The atmospheric and historic town of Hoi An once a major port and home to many foreign merchants trading in high grade silk and porcelain, fortunes diminished when the Bon River silted up in the late 19th century, leaving little access to the towns docks. Through the opening of Vietnam to tourism in the 1990’s Hoi An is now one of Vietnam’s leading tourist destinations, one of the prettiest towns with teetering merchant houses once home to wealthy Japanese traders, tiny cobbled lanes, ancient tea warehouses and Chinese Temples. Spend a couple of days exploring whilst you have suits, shirts and dresses made to measure at the many tailors shops. Travel further afield, for beautiful pastoral scenery and spectacular beaches, whether you take a day trip to Hoi An or spend a few days it is certainly an area of Vietnam not to be missed.
