Corbett National Park, located in the foothills of the Himalaya’s by the Ramganga River, an ecotourism destination containing 488 different species of plants and a diverse variety of fauna. India’s first national park established by Jim Corbett the famous Hunter turned Game Keeper to preserve and protect the Bengal Tiger. Wild elephants are often seen drinking at the river, home to the marsh crocodiles and gharial, the fish eating river crocodile. Deer and Monkeys inhabit this wonderful park, for bird lovers around 580 species of birds have been spotted in the park, including the rare Ibisbill and the great pied hornbills. Safaris on domesticated elephants are available around the buffer zone, a unique opportunity of seeing the illusive Bengal Tiger.
